** We would love to sign up some partners who can help us transport pumpkins to farms. If your business or organization owns an insured dump truck or trailer and can help us deliver more pumpkins to farms we would be pleased to feature you in all of our Pumpkins for Pigs 2023 promotion.**
About last year
Pumpkins for the Planet 2022 was a HUGE success (if we say so ourselves).
We had 13 collection points, 10+ drivers, 13+ pumpkin lifters and 3 logistics coordinators (in addition to the team at Food Sharing Ottawa - who were instrumental in finding us groups who could use the pumpkins and drivers!) Together we reduced food waste, improved access to food and enriched agricultural soil!
It was only a success because our volunteers and neighbours in Ottawa who helped us by:
"Growing" pumpkins patches in their yard
Shuttling pumpkins to the park and to farms
Lifting pumpkins into trucks/trailers/mini vans/sedans
Talking to their neighbours
Putting up flyers
Sending emails and calling farms and food centers
Thanks to our organizational supporters from 2022
A special shout out to Crestway Construction + Design who donated a loading bin and drove the pumpkins to a local farm
